I thought I would like this film more: Cameron Crowe at the helm, a Tom Cruise that still cares about acting and only runs occasionally… what’s not to love?

But the eponymous main character only takes a good decision in the first two minutes of the story, and for the remaining two hours only succeeds because of the patience and love and talent of the people around him. So why are we supposed to care for him? Just because he’s an ’everyday man’ full of flaws?
